Commit Cycle: October 9

Chase Berger

Forward
St. Louis AAA Blues (Midget Major 18U)
6'0", 190 pounds
St. Louis, MO
Class of 2015
DOB 11/14/1994

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

10/6  vs. RM RoughRiders      T 2-2  0   0   0   0 [box score]
10/7  vs. Colorado Rampage    W 4-1  0   0   0   0 [box score]
10/7  vs. Colorado T-birds    W 4-3  1   1   2   4 [box score]
10/8  vs. Russell Stover      T 3-3  1   1   2   0 [box score]

Berger has continued his torrid start to the Tier 1 Elite League season, and his 13 points through 10 games both lead the Blues and are ninth in the league (his nine goals are third in the T1EHL)... against the Thunderbirds on Sunday, he scored the game-winning goal on the power play with 2:25 remaining... it was just one of four GWGs he has collected already this season.

Conor Garland

Forward
Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL)
5'6", 150 pounds
Scituate, MA
Class of 2015
DOB 3/11/1996

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

9/29  vs. Team USA            W 6-3  0   0   0   0 [box score]
10/5  at Chicago              W 3-1  -   -   -   - [box score]
10/6  vs. Indiana             W 4-1  -   -   -   - [box score]

The 16-year-old made his (official, since he did play in preseason games) USHL debut against the NTDP on September 29th and earned a +1 rating before sitting out two subsequent games... Garland's progress while playing in the U.S.' top junior league and against players as many as four years older than him will be one of the more compelling storylines of the season.

David Goodwin

Center
Sioux City Musketeers (USHL)
5'9", 170 pounds
St. Louis, MO
Class of 2013
DOB 2/27/1992

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

9/28  at Fargo                L 2-3  0   2   2   0 [box score]
10/5  at Tri-City             L 3-4  0   0   0   2 [box score]
10/6  vs. Omaha               L 2-3  1   0   1   0 [box score]

The Muskies suffered a little bit of tough luck in their first three games of the regular season, dropping two decisions in overtime or a shootout... nevertheless, Goodwin's three points, which included a shorthanded goal against Omaha, are enough to lead the team in scoring at this early stage... he was named Sioux City's captain this season, joining David Thompson in that distinction.

Kevin Kerr

Defenseman
Team Comcast (Midget Major 18U)
5'11", 162 pounds
Bensalem, PA
Class of 2014
DOB 2/9/1996

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

9/28  vs. Junior Titans       W 8-0  0   0   0   0 [box score]
9/29  vs. Valley Forge        W 9-1  1   1   2   0 [box score]
10/6  vs. TPH Thunder         W 6-3  1   0   1   0 [box score]
10/7  vs. Pittsburgh Pens     W 5-1  0   1   1   0 [box score]
10/7  vs. Buffalo Sabres      L 0-3  0   0   0   0 [box score]
10/8  vs. Ohio Blue Jackets   W 8-1  0   1   1   0 [box score]

Team Comcast began its AYHL schedule with a pair of blowout wins on September 28th and 29th before heading to Massachusetts for a Tier 1 showcase... Kerr and his teammates also showed well there, although a clunky shutout loss stands out in a string of big wins.

Alec Marsh

Forward
Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL)
5'10", 175 pounds
Bridgewater, NJ
Class of 2015
DOB 11/28/1995

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

9/29  at Green Bay            W 4-1  -   -   -   - [box score]
10/5  vs. Fargo               W 5-2  -   -   -   - [box score]
10/6  vs. Youngstown          L 1-5  0   0   0   2 [box score]

While Marsh is a few months older than Garland, the New Jersey native will be attempting a similar transition to the USHL as a young player... a third-period slashing penalty in his debut did not prove costly.

Eamon McAdam

Goaltender
Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL)
6'2", 185 pounds
Perkasie, PA
Class of 2013
DOB 9/24/1994

Date  Opponent               Score SA GA  Sv% GAA
--------------------------------------------------------------

9/28  at Green Bay           W 4-3 36  3 .917 3.00 [box score]
9/29  vs. Sioux Falls        W 8-4 --  -  --- ---  [box score]
10/5  vs. Youngstown         L 6-9 --  -  --- ---  [box score]

McAdam, and it seems like I always say this, had quite an interesting couple of weeks... he turned in a solid effort to help the Hawks to a season-opening win over the defending Clark Cup champs before flying to Buffalo to compete in the USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game on the 29th (which was previously covered here)... following that game, he and two teammates who also played in the prospects game were suspended for a game (the October 5th game against the Phantoms) due to an undisclosed violation of a team rule... McAdam will submit blog entries for The Pipeline Show this season, the first of which - including an extensive recap of his hockey career to this point - is linked below.

Bo Pellah

Defenseman
Langley Rivermen (BCHL)
5'11", 150 pounds
New Westminster, BC
Class of 2014
DOB 5/25/1995

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

9/28  at Merritt              L 1-2  0   0   0   2 [box score]
9/29  at Salmon Arm           W 3-2  0   1   1   0 [box score]
10/6  vs. Prince George       W 3-2  0   1   1   0 [box score]
10/7  vs. Prince George       W 4-3  0   2   2   2 [box score]

Pellah picked up an assist on Langley's power play goal with 48 seconds remaining in regulation to force an ultimately successful overtime period against Merritt and has continued to pile up points in his second BCHL season... the third-youngest player on the Rivermen leads the team in scoring at this early stage, with 10 points in 7 games.

Zach Saar

Right Wing
Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL)
6'4", 210 pounds
Plainwell, MI
Class of 2013
DOB 6/22/1993

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

9/28  at Team USA             L 1-6  1   0   1   4 [box score]
9/29  at Youngstown           L 3-4  0   2   2   7 [box score]
10/5  at Lincoln              L 2-5  0   0   0   2 [box score]
10/6  vs. Sioux Falls         L 1-2  0   0   0   0 [box score]

Des Moines is off to a brutal start as a team, although Saar has done his best to spark the team, both offensively and with his fists.

David Thompson

Defenseman
Chilliwack Chiefs (BCHL)
6'2", 187 pounds
Glen Mills, PA
Class of 2013
DOB 5/19/1992

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM

9/28  vs. Powell River        W 3-0  0   0   0   2 [box score]
9/30  at Surrey               W 4-3  0   1   1   2 [box score]
10/5  at Coquitlam            W 6-3  1   0   1   0 [box score]
10/6  vs. Coquitlam           T 4-4  0   1   1   2 [box score]

Thompson has demonstrated his versatility over the last two weeks, first as a key part of a shutout effort against Powell River, then by registering points over the next three games, including an overtime assist in the game at Surrey.
