Just 10 days after being shut out by Benilde, the two-time defending state champs got off the mat and registered a huge win in a rematch... despite losing the next day in the Eagles Mid-Winter Meltdown championship game (to the hosting school), the win over BSM was enough for the 13-2-0 Skippers to regain the top spot in most Minnesota high school rankings, including KRACH... while Minnetonka was largely held to a series of low-scoring games, Bowman did manage the game-winning goal with 3:41 remaining against Wayzata.

Ehresmann showed her pedigree as a top goaltending prospect in the BSM win, and finished a near-flawless Commit Cycle period with a relatively easy - but vital, given the 1-0 score - shutout of Hopkins.

After a four-game winless skid, the Hornets are now on a five-game winning streak to climb to 10-4-3 overall... included in the streak was a sweep though their home ABRA Invitational December 26th through 28th... Nielsen leads Edina in assists with 14 and is second to Taylor Williamson in points with 24.

Paniccia helped the Hornets to the gold medal at the Mississauga Chiefs Christmas Classic with three outstanding outings, including a shutout in a shootout win over Saugeen Maitland in the semifinals (Stephanie Loukes, who is part of an even rotation with Paniccia, took the other three games)... while detailed information is unavailable on Paniccia's school team, Appleby College, they have been off for the last two weeks and remain 4-1-0 to sit on top of the CISAA standings... Appleby has only allowed nine goals this season.

While Ehresmann was probably the star of the BSM win among the three Penn Staters, Petersen's game-winning goal probably shouldn't be overlooked... in all, her 34 points rank 28th in the state.

Kelly Seward

Defender
Nichols School/Buffalo Bisons 19U
5'9" // Williamsville, NY
Class of 2013
DOB 6/7/1995

Nichols School won the North American Prep Hockey Association tournament they hosted January 4th-6th thanks to wins over Gilmour (2-0), Wyoming (4-0) and Trinity (9-0), as well as a tie with Ridley (3-3)... Nichols is first in the NAPHA with a 7-0-1 record and has only allowed eight goals in NAPHA games... the Trinity and Ridley results from the tournament also count towards Nichols' record in the CISAA, which now stands at 2-1-1, good for third place, three points behind Paniccia's Appleby College... the Buffalo Bisons (28-10-1 overall) also had a successful holiday tournament season, plowing through the Connecticut Polar Bears' Christmas Tournament with seven wins (partly thanks to just two goals against) - including 2-0 over the hosts in the final... said Nichols coach Scott Welch in the New York Hockey Journal piece linked below: "I am so excited to not only have Kelly Seward lead our team this season for Nichols, but to watch her as she takes her game to Penn State next year. As a defenseman, the key to success is consistency, which is something that I and the other coaches have noticed most about Kelly. While quiet in nature, she lets her actions speak on the ice."

Vetter blew up over this Commit Cycle period, including in the win over Lakeville South in which Vetter's Panthers scored three in the first period and held on - a huge result not only due to the cross-town rivalry, but also because Lakeville South is the first-place team in the South Suburban league shared by the two schools... the northerners now trail the southerners by a single point.
