Bumper Class

On Monday afternoon, Penn State released the names of those who signed National Letters of Intent to play for the women's program next season. While about half of the signees - Emily Laurenzi, Jill Holdcroft, Celine Whitlinger, Micayla Catanzariti, Katie Zinn, Jeanette Bateman and Darby Kern (a walk-on who technically didn't have to sign and isn't in the release) - should be familiar to TYT readers, there were seven names new to the recruiting radar.

What follows are capsules on each of the seven "new" players, including the summary information and Josh Brandwene quotes taken from the PSU release.

It's pretty easy to see some of Brandwene's piplines start to take shape. Notably, two signees are products of the Detroit Honeybaked program, as are two of this year's freshmen (Madison Smiddy and Katie Murphy). Another signee, from the Alliance Bulldogs, will join freshman Ashton Schaffer as an alumna. Three signees (Whitlinger, Catanzariti, Zinn) are from Gilmour Academy outside of Cleveland, and of course the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite will supply its fair share of players with Holdcroft and Kern this year.
