PIA Takes Over Public, Other Sessions

The PIA Community Rink, true to its purpose, will be the site of most regular skating sessions

The close of business Sunday represents a comparatively quiet, but significant, milestone: the official move of public skating, men's league games and just about everything else the intercollegiate hockey teams already left behind a week earlier from the Greenberg Ice Pavilion to Pegula Ice Arena.

While TYT is a Penn State hockey blog and not a Pegula Ice Arena blog (other than to the large extent that the two things overlap, sorry Sara Evans), the excitement of the situation demands stepping slightly off topic for a moment to share information regarding the September schedules and rates for PIA public sessions, stick times and figure skating. The first public skate will be on Friday the 20th, from 8-10 p.m. in the community rink.

The transition comes with a slight price increase. For public sessions, adult admissions will be $7, from $6 at the Ice Pavilion, and skate is up a dollar as well, to $3. The youth and senior rates of $6 represent a 50-cent increase. Admission for Penn State students with an ID is still $5.

Limitations of TYT's format make the full schedules (below) a bit hard to read, but click the link above each one to view in full size. The PDF files can also be downloaded with a button at the bottom.
