Even the 3-1 loss isn't too bad.

One kinda sad thing - I saw that this game drew just under 800 fans and that was UVM's best ever gate for a women's home opener. That place seats what, 6000? and they fill it for the men's team which, as often as not, isn't anything to write home about either.

It's not going to be easy, but I really, really hope PSU can get north of 1000 - at least! - for the women's team. Maybe not this year, but in the future. Of course, PSU fans are so spoiled for sports to watch on campus that it might be hard to convince people to come out to yet another game on a weekend when they're already coming out for the men's team and maybe some other sports too, but I hope many will. PSU generally supports women's sports so well.

It's just a matter of convincing fans to enjoy hockey without much checking. I like women's hockey from what I've seen (the olympics. I few college games). The lack of checking makes it look like pond hockey or street hockey being played at a very, very high level. Even though these women are faster and more skilled than I'll ever be, its easier to "relate" to than the men's game. If that makes sense. Reednoreply@blogger.com
